As previously reported, Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford is working with hip-hop producer 88-Keys on a new project, in which he is learning to "chop-up beats." Now, 88-Keys has shed some light on the collaboration, saying that the project sounds "dope."
"I can tell you what it's going to sound like, it's going to sound dope as f**k," the producer tells NME. "It's going to be he and I involved in it...he obviously brings a lot to the table as well. The masses obviously love what he does. Not to sound cliche but I would say that the possibilities are endless."
As for whether Mumford will do any rapping on the project, 88-Keys says he would be open to the idea.
"As far as like actual rapping, at this moment who knows," he says. "We may just go into the studio and literally start from scratch and just get crazy. I'm up for doing anything challenging. The one thing that I could 100 per cent guarantee is that people will love it. People may not expect it, but they will definitely love it once it’s made and available for consumption."
Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons' new album, Wilder Mind, is also touted as something people did not expect, as the band decided to forgo its signature banjo-heavy folk sound for a more straightforward, electric rock approach. Wilder Mind will be released on May 4.
