Marilyn Manson has postponed and rescheduled the remainder of his October tour dates after suffering an onstage injury during a show in New York City September 30. The new dates begin January 10 in Phoenix and conclude February 16 in Sayreville, New Jersey. Visit MarilynManson.com for ticket info.
In the middle of the New York City show, during Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," a large pistol-shaped prop tipped over and landed on him. In an interview with Yahoo, Manson says the "pain was excruciating."
"I only recently watched the video of it," Manson says of the accident. "I can see how it could look terrifying. It was terrifying for me, because the truss was not secured properly."
"I wasn't trying to climb [the prop]," he adds. "It started to fall and I tried to push back and I didn't get out the way in time. I'm not sure what I hit my head on, but it did fall onto my leg and break the fibula in two places." The fibula's the smaller of the two bones in the lower leg, the other being the tibia, aka the shin bone.
Manson's currently at home recovering with his leg in a cast. He's set to return to the stage November 5 to play Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, after which he'll kick off a European tour November 12 in Helsinki, Finland. In the meantime, Manson does feel frustrated that he can't be on the road, especially since his new album, Heaven Upside Down, was released just last week.
"With a cast on my leg, it's hard to talk about the excitement of the tour," he says. "It got cut off right as I was about to put it into second gear. But I'll be back there really shortly and it's going to be as exciting as it was starting out."
