Mastodon Frontman and Tool Drummer Form New Group, Legend of the Seagullmen

Credits: Travis Shinn; Tim CadienteMastodon frontman Brent Hinds and Tool drummer Danny Carey have teamed up to create a new band, named Legend of the Seagullmen. The aquatically-themed group have released two new songs, called "The Deep-Sea Diver" and "Ships Wreck" on the band's website, TheSeagullmen.com.

Hinds has some experience with nautically-themed projects, as Mastodon's 2004 album, Leviathan, is a concept album loosely based on the novel Moby Dick.

In other Mastodon news, Hinds and drummer Brann Dailor made quite the impression at the Grammys Sunday due to their outfits -- Hinds showed up in a full Los Angeles Dodgers uniform, and Dailor wore a literal "birthday suit." You can watch a video of them being interviewed by Grammy.com about their clothing choices -- Hinds replies "I just love that you're talking to me" to one question -- on YouTube.

Mastodon's single "High Road" was nominated for Best Metal Performance, but lost out to Tenacious D.
