Metallica announces North American tour

ABC/Randy HolmesFresh off their performance at the Grammys, Metallica has announced a headlining tour of the U.S. and Canada in support of their new album, Hardwired...to Self-Destruct. The metal legends' first full-length North American outing since 2009 will kick off May 10 in Baltimore and will conclude August 16 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Members of Metallica's fan club will have access to pre-sale tickets beginning this Tuesday, February 14. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Friday, February 17 at 10 a.m. local time via Metallica.com.

Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira will be the opening bands on the tour.
