Credit: Herring & HerringIt’s shaping up to be a big week for Metallica. According to Billboard, the veteran rockers’ latest album Hardwired…to Self-Destruct will likely debut atop the magazine’s Billboard 200 chart with projected sales of around 300,000 units.

The album, Metallica’s 10th studio effort of all-new material, was released on November 18. Its predecessor, 2008’s Death Magnetic, debuted at number one on the chart with first-week sales of 490,000, according to Nielsen Music.  If Hardwired…to Self-Destruct debuts at number one, it will be Metallica’s sixth chart-topping effort. The latest Billboard 200 chart will be unveiled via the publication’s websites on Sunday, November 27.

As previously reported, Metallica’s upcoming schedule includes an intimate show at the Toronto Opera House on Tuesday, November 29 and a hometown show in Oakland, California on Saturday, December 17. Last Friday, the band performed at the 600-person-capacity House of Vans in London, England.
