Jaco was produced by Trujillo and Pastorius' son, Johnny Pastorius, and was directed by Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak. The film will feature appearances from Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea and Rush's Geddy Lee.
"Our film tells the story of Jaco Pastorius, a self-taught, larger than life musician who made an undeniable impact on music, and reinvented the electric bass; giving the instrument a powerful dynamic voice that had both edge and beauty," says Trujillo.
Following the screening of Jaco, Trujillo will take part in a question-and-answer session about the film alongside Johnny Pastorius and Marchand.
If you can't make it out to Asbury Park, Jaco is available for pre-order from Pledge Music. Along with the Jaco DVD, a variety of perks are available, including a Skype call with Trujillo.
Meanwhile, Metallica currently is working on its new album. Drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that the album's "creative elements are getting close to being done."
The Asbury Park Music in Film Festival will be held April 10-12.
