Mike D and Ad-Rock announce live “Beastie Boys Story” events

ABC/Randy HolmesThe surviving Beastie Boys members are returning to the stage for a new live event.

Michael "Mike-D" Diamond and Adam "Ad Rock" Horivitz have announced "Beastie Boys Story: As Told by Michael Diamond & Adam Horovitz," taking place April 5 in Philadelphia, and April 8-9 in Brooklyn, New York.

The exact nature of the events is unclear, though whatever they are, they will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Spike Jonze, who was behind the camera for the group's iconic "Sabotage" video. You can also watch an announcement video on YouTube, though it doesn't offer much in the way of concrete info, either.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. local time via BeastieBoys.com.

Last fall, Mike D and Ad-Rock released Beastie Boys Book, a nearly 600-page book detailing the history of the band.

Here are the "Beastie Boys Story" event dates:

4/5 -- Philadelphia, PA, The Tower Theater
4/8 -- Brooklyn, NY, Kings Theatre
4/9 -- Brooklyn, NY, Kings Theatre
