Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock sat down with Saturday Night Live's Vanessa Bayer for the latest episode of her Sound Advice comedy web series. In the show, Bayer plays media coach Janessa Slater, who gives terrible PR advice to bands. Previous episodes have featured TV on the Radio, Interpol and Haim. You can watch the Modest Mouse episode of Sound Advice now on YouTube.
To start off, Janessa asks Brock if he would ever consider changing the name "Modest Mouse" because "modesty is for losers and mice are taking over my apartment."
"I just don't want to do the leg-work to change it, you know, it's on the records," Brock responds, to which Janessa asks, "But, I mean, have they sold that much?"
She also recommends Modest Mouse play more festivals since "there's a ton of mediocre white people with a ton of disposable income who like to blow it listening to middle-aged lumber-sexuals sing them lullabies in a wet field."
Speaking of Modest Mouse and festivals, the band will be headlining the inaugural American Roots Festival, which will be held October 17-18 in Raleigh, North Carolina. For the full lineup and ticket info, visit AmericanRootsFest.com.
