Morrissey fans in the U.S. just can’t catch a break. According to SPIN, the former Smiths frontman has postponed the remaining dates on his current U.S. tour because of keyboardist Gustavo Manzur’s illness.
Manzur collapsed backstage prior to a scheduled November 14 date in Boulder, Colorad, which was then cancelled. The tour’s remaining shows, including tonight’s scheduled appearance in suburban Detroit, have been moved to December while Manzur recuperates. Morrissey has been forced to cancel a number of U.S. shows in recent years because of illness or accident.
As reported earlier, in conjunction with the Detroit area performance Morrissey wrote a letter to General Motors CEO Mary T. Barra, suggesting the company offer an option of vegan leather interiors on its eco-conscious Volt and Bolt model cars. Morrissey is a longtime anti-animal cruelty activist and vegan.
Here are Morrissey’s rescheduled U.S. tour dates:
12/7 -- Royal Oak, MI, Royal Oak Music Theatre
12/9 -- Cleveland, OH, Playhouse Sq
12/10 -- Chicago, IL, Aragon Ballroom
12/16 -- Houston, TX, White Oak Music Hall
