Mumford & Sons Still “Get Nervous” Before Playing Festivals

Despite being staples of the scene, the band says that they still feel a bit jittery when they play festivals.

"Yeah I get nervous still, definitely," frontman Marcus Mumford tells NME in a video interview. "Festivals, maybe more so than our own shows."

Mumford & Sons have been playing festivals this year in support of their new, electric album Wilder Mind. They're still playing the acoustic, banjo-driven songs from their previous albums live, however, which makes for a complicated stage setup.

"I definitely think it's taken us up to about now to figure it out since we started playing it live and putting the two sets together," Mumford says. "Now we're just starting to figure out what works. There's certain songs that don't work next to each other, and then certain ones that do."

In addition to playing festivals like Bonnaroo, Mumford & Sons have staged their own mini-festivals called Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers, which this year include Foo Fighters and The Flaming Lips. The band will also be playing their own headlining shows this summer, including a two-night stand at The Forum in Los Angeles August 17-18.
