Muse Releases New Songs “JFK” and “Defector”

Image Courtesy of Warner Bros. RecordsIn case you were wondering what exactly the Drones track "JFK" contains, Muse has unveiled the 54-second song, which serves as a prelude to the album's next track, "Defector." You can listen to both "JFK" and "Defector" now on YouTube.

"JFK," as you may have suspected, is a recording of a John F. Kennedy speech -- specifically his 1961 address to the American Newspaper Publishers Association. The speech, in which President Kennedy says "we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy," is backed by pangs of distorted guitars. "JFK" then leads into "Defector," a hard-rocking song featuring Matt Bellamy declarations like "You can't control me, I'm a defector."

With "JFK" and "Defector," Muse has now released over half the songs from Drones prior to its June 9 release. The album's lead single, "Dead Inside," has now led Billboard's Radio Airplay and Alternative Songs charts for four straight weeks.
