Credit: Danny ClinchMy Morning Jacket has announced the launch of The Waterfall Project, a new, ongoing philanthropy effort named after the band's forthcoming album, The Waterfall. The first phase of The Waterfall Project will focus on supporting and raising awareness of environmental and climate issues.
The Waterfall Project will raise funds for non-profit organizations, including Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, The Gulf Restoration Network and Climate Justice Alliance.
Meanwhile, The Waterfall album will be released on May 4. The record will be the band's first release since 2011's Circuital.
My Morning Jacket will launch a massive tour in support of The Waterfall on May 15 in Athens, Georgia. The North American portion of the trek, which includes appearances at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo, will wrap up August 14 in Denver, followed by a trip to Europe.
