Grand Romantic may be Nate Ruess' debut solo album, but he's recruited a number of high-profile collaborators for the record. While his lead single "Nothing Without Love," featured contributions from Swedish singer Lykke Li and Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, Ruess' newest song, "What This World Is Coming To," is a duet with Beck.
As Ruess tells it, Beck agreed to collaborate with him when he was first recording Grand Romantic, but their schedules didn't line up. Fortunately, the pair was able to reconnect after the Grammys, where Beck's 2014 album Morning Phase won Album of the Year.
"I really wanted to duet, and I thought Beck's lowish voice would be a nice contrast to mine," Ruess explains on his Facebook. "Fortunately he really took to the idea, and the song, and it's one of my absolute favorites because of everything he brought to it."
You can listen to "What This World Is Coming To" now on YouTube. Grand Romantic will be released June 16.
