Credit: Dustin Rabin This past summer, Faith No More embarked on their first North American tour in five years, and New York Rangers defenseman Dan Boyle wasn't going to miss it. However, the hockey player didn't just want to see his favorite band live: he wanted to be their roadie. His dream came true, and for four shows during Faith No More's tour, Boyle lugged instruments and set up the stage for Mike Patton and company.
"As silly as it sounds, it was an amazing experience," Boyle tells the New York Post. "[Being a roadie is] a thankless job, but an important job. It's not that different from what [the Rangers'] trainers do for us!"
Boyle first met Faith No More about eight years ago when the band performed in their hometown of San Fransisco. At the time, Boyle was played for the San Jose Sharks. "They were my favorite band growing up," says Boyle "I told [the team's] p.r. guy, 'I don‘t care if I have to stand in the top corner of the venue, get me in there.'"
Faith No More was touring in support of their new album, Sol Invictus, their first in 18 years. The band has just one live date left on their schedule: a headlining set at the Aftershock festival October 25.
