Looks like Trent Reznor kept his promise. Nine Inch Nails will release new music before the end of 2016 in the form of a 5-track EP titled Not the Actual Events. The EP will be available for download on December 23, and you can pre-order it now via NIN.com.

"It's an unfriendly, fairly impenetrable record that we needed to make," says Reznor of Not the Actual Events. "It's an EP because that ended up being the proper length to tell that story."

Along with the EP, Reznor announced a special vinyl edition of Nine Inch Nails' 1999 album The Fragile, featuring 37 instrumentals and alternate tracks. Additionally, all of Nine Inch Nail's studio albums will be reissued on vinyl in 2017 as "definitive editions." You can pre-order the reissues of Broken, The Downward Spiral and The Fragile now via the Nine Inch Nails website.

Here is the track list for Not the Actual Events:

"Branches/Bones"
"Dear World"
"She's Gone Away"
"The Idea of You"
"Burning Bright (Field on Fire)"
