“NME” Names Arctic Monkeys’ “AM” the Best Album of the Decade

Image Courtesy of Domino Records2014 has come to an end, which means we are now 4 years into the 2010's decade. As such, NME has taken this opportunity to pick the 50 best albums of the decade so far. For its number one choice, the British publication named Arctic Monkeys' 2013 album, AM.

"The new dawn of Arctic Monkeys' AM was a sassy snarl in the face of a cynical 'post-guitar' age; proof that rock’n’roll was still capable of dragging itself out of the swamp and evolving into wild and exotic new species," reads NME's description of the album. "AM sounded like the beginning of Arctic Monkeys' imperial period and for modern rock’n’roll too."

AM, Arctic Monkey's fifth album, peaked at number six on the Billboard 200, the band's highest position on the chart. The album featured the singles "R U Mine?" and "Do I Wanna Know?," the latter of which was nominated for Best Rock Performance for the 2015 Grammys.

Other albums that made NME top 50 include Arcade Fire's The Suburbs, Queens of the Stone Age's ...Like Clockwork and Jack White's Blunderbuss.
