Noel Gallagher Says The Black Keys Are “the Greatest Shuffle Band of All Time”

Credit: Lawrence WatsonEarlier this month, Noel Gallagher said that he'd "rather drink petrol straight from the nozzle at a garage than listen to an interview with Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys." So what does the former Oasis man think of some of America's biggest rock bands, like Jack White or The Black Keys?

"I don’t read their interviews, d’you know what I mean?" Gallagher tells Stereogum. "So I wouldn’t be able to comment. It wouldn’t be fair. I do like their music. I think the Black Keys are great. I think Jack White is a very f**king gifted guitarist."

"[The Black Keys are] the best band on shuffle in the history of rock music," he adds. "Every time the Black Keys come on, everyone goes, 'Hey, who’s this?' 'That’s the Black Keys.' They’re the greatest shuffle band of all time."

Gallagher also gave his thoughts on the Jack White guacamole incident, in which a leaked White tour rider included a very detailed guacamole recipe that was to be made backstage.

"I don’t understand the culture of people poking fun at artists because they’ve got requirements on the rider which probably, speaking from experience, Jack White probably had very little to f**king do with," Gallagher says.

For his part, White issued a similar statement, saying that the recipe was an "inside joke" between his tour manager and the local promoters.

Chasing Yesterday, Gallagher's second album with his post-Oasis band, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, will be released on March 3.
