Korn is a mysterious band, and perhaps the most mysterious thing about them is their name. Now, a new animated online comedy series, called "Secret Metal Mysteries," has "revealed" the origin story of how Jonathan Davis and co. chose the name "Korn."
In the video, Davis and guitarist Brian "Head" Welch are in a band called Cabbage -- Welch likes to refer to himself as "the Head of Cabbage." Davis loves to eat corn and desperately wants to name his band after his favorite food, but there is already a band called Corn, made up of literal walking corn stalks. Naturally, he calls his buddy Chino Moreno of Deftones to "shuck" Corn, allowing him to take the name and change the "c" to a "k."
If it's not already clear, "Secret Metal Mysteries" is a parody video series. Although Korn did share it on their Facebook, so perhaps there is a kernel of truth to the video.
Meanwhile, in the real life of Korn, the band will be playing the Fort Rock and Carolina Rebellion festivals before heading off the Europe. Korn will return to North America to play the Heavy Montreal festival in Canada.
