Original Smashing Pumpkins Drummer on Board for Corgan’s Summer Tour with Marilyn Manson

BT PR/Live NationThe history of Smashing Pumpkins has been fraught with drama when it comes to the lineup, which is why it's somewhat surprising that the band's original drummer, Jimmy Chamberlain, is joining Billy Corgan this summer when he hits the road with Marilyn Manson for their joint End of Times tour.

“We're thrilled Jimmy's back in the saddle this summer to drive a super high-octane set, and it's nice to see the stars aligning around Smashing Pumpkins anew," Corgan said in a statement.

Chamberlain was part of the Pumpkins from 1988 through 1996, when he was kicked out of the band for substance abuse issues.  He was reinstated in 1998 and remained part of the lineup until 2000, when the band split.  Corgan and Chamberlain then played together in the band Zwan from 2001 to 2003.  When Corgan reformed the Pumpkins in in 2005, Chamberlain returned as well and played with them through 2009, after which he left.

The End Times tour kicks off July 7 in Concord, CA.
