The feud between Jack White and The Black Keys appears to have been renewed. In a series of tweets, The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney says White tried to fight him while they were at a bar in New York City Sunday night.
"He came to a bar in NYC I go to a lot with a few friends and tried to fight me," Carney says. He also calls White a " 40 year old bully [who] tried to fight the 35 year old nerd."
"[White] is why I play music. The bully a******* who made me feel like nothing," Carney continues. "Music was a private non competitive thing." He goes on to say, "It might get loud but it might also get really really sad and pathetic," presumably referring to the documentary It Might Get Loud, which features White. Carney concludes by calling White "Billy Corgan's dumb a** zero t-shirt in human form."
For his part, White denies any physical altercation took place between him and Carney. In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, White says, "Nobody tried to fight you, Patrick. Nobody touched you or 'bullied' you."
"You were asked a question you couldn't answer so you walked away," White continues. "So quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being. End of story."
White and The Black Keys have a contentious history: White has repeatedly said The Black Keys ripped off his sound, and Carney has said White "sounds like an a******." Last year, White apologized to The Black Keys, which was then the last entry in the now-refueled feud.
