Pearl Jam and Coldplay will headline this year's Global Citizen Festival, held September 26 on the Great Lawn of New York City's Central Park. The fourth annual event will highlight a United Nations to-do list called Global Goals, which aims to fight inequality, protect the planet, and end extreme poverty by 2030. Beyonce and pop singer Ed Sheeran will also play the festival.
The concert is free, but to score admission you've got to visit GlobalCitizen.org and start taking action to benefit the world's poor. That includes doing things like raising awareness through social media, signing petitions and writing to local politicians. You'll earn points, which in turn allows you to enter to win tickets.
"We hope Pearl Jam fans will sign up to become Global Citizens -- not just to earn tickets to the show -- but to be part of a movement that encourages leaders of nations with the greatest wealth to apply aid, trade and governance policies in support of nations and communities in the greatest need," says Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard in a statement.
The 2015 Global Citizen Festival will air live on MSNBC and will stream live at Youtube.com/GlobalCitizen.
