Pearl Jam will make their return to late night television this week when they play The Late Show this week. Eddie Vedder and company will take the stage in front of new host Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, September 23.
While Pearl Jam will help welcome Colbert, who is now in his third week of hosting The Late Show, Vedder helped say goodbye to the program's last host, David Letterman. In Letterman's final week as The Late Show host, Vedder performed a rendition of Pearl Jam's 1994 hit "Better Man" while backed by Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra.
Pearl Jam's last appearance on late night TV as a whole band was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2013, when the program dedicated a week in October to the release of the band's last album, Lightning Bolt. Along with two nights of performances by the band themselves, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold also stopped by The Tonight Show in honor of Pearl Jam that week.
In addition to Pearl Jam, Dan Auerbach's new project The Arcs will perform this week on The Late Show on Friday, September 25. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
