Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready Shares Two New Songs in Support of Ex-NFL Player Steve Gleason

Kevin Mazur/Getty ImagesPearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has released a pair of new songs, titled "Space in Between" and "Her Again." The lyrics to the songs were written by McCready's longtime friend and ex-NFL player Steve Gleason, who is living with ALS.

Gleason played defensive back for the New Orleans Saints for eight seasons before retiring in 2007. He's best known for blocking a punt against the Atlanta Falcons during the Saints' first home game after Hurricane Katrina. Gleason was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in 2011. A documentary about his life with ALS, titled Gleason, was released earlier this year and is now available on DVD.

You can download MP3's of McCready's new songs, which feature vocals by Seattle singer Kim Virant, now on Amazon. The singles are also available on blue and white vinyl via the Pearl Jam web store. Proceeds will be donated to Gleason's charity organization Team Gleason.

This week, it was announced that Pearl Jam will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
