Pete Wentz Says “a Couple Physical Fights” Broke Out While Fall Out Boy Recorded “From Under the Cork Tree”

Island RecordsWhile they were recording what would become their breakout album, From Under the Cork Tree, one other thing broke out amongst the members of Fall Out Boy: fighting. In an interview with Alternative Press, bassist Pete Wentz says that he and frontman Patrick Stump often fought, sometimes physically, with each other during the recording process for Fall Out Boy's 2005 sophomore album.

"Patrick and I didn't always agree in the studio," Wentz says. "There was always verbal fighting and a couple physical fights. That was an interesting period."

After From Under the Cork Tree, Fall Out Boy released two more albums before going on hiatus in 2010. The band has since returned for two new albums, 2013's Save Rock and Roll and this year's American Beauty/American Psycho, both of which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, From Under the Cork Tree celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

"It was never meant to be this album that people would even talk about 10 years later," Wentz tells Alternative Press.

Fall Out Boy is currently on the road on their Boys of Zummer tour, which wraps up August 10 in Los Angeles.
