Primus Shares Video for “Pure Imagination” for National Chocolate Day

Image Courtesy of Chapman BaehlerToday, October 29, is National Chocolate Day, and Primus is celebrating by releasing a video for their version of "Pure Imagination" from the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory film soundtrack. The video features the lyrics of the song displayed in that classic Willy Wonka font over images of the inner workings of a chocolate factory. Be forewarned -- Primus' unsettling rendition of the song combined with these images may actually make chocolate seem unappetizing.

"Pure Imagination"comes from Primus' full recreation of the 1971 film's soundtrack, entitled Primus & The Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble.

"I really wanted to pay homage to a film that was very important to me as a kid and very influential to me musically," Les Claypool says of the Primus tribute to Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. "So that's what we did. And as opposed to just going in and recording the songs and playing them the way they are in the film, we twisted them up a bit…twisted them up a lot."

Primus is currently touring in support of Chocolate Factory, including a Halloween show at New York City's Beacon Theater. The tour wraps up January 3 in Seattle, Washington.
