Radiohead’s Thom Yorke pays tribute to late pop and avant-garde musician Scott Walker

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagicRadiohead frontman Thom Yorke has payed tribute to late pop and avant-garde musician Scott Walker. The 76-year-old musician's death was confirmed Monday by his record label 4AD.

"So very sad to hear that Scott Walker has passed away," Yorke tweeted. "He was a huge influence on Radiohead and myself, showing me how I could use my voice and words."

Yorke added that Walker, whom he had met in person once, as a "kind gentle outsider."

"He will be very missed," Yorke wrote.

Walker first gained fame as part of the pop trio The Walker Brothers, which enjoyed great success in the U.K. with hits such as "Make It Easy on Yourself" and "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore." He then began a solo career, which began in the late '60s and was revived in mid-'80s.

With his solo music, Walker explored more experimental and avant-garde styles of music. Most recently, he composed the score to the 2018 Natalie Portman film Vox Lux.
