Report: Foo Fighters to Be Final Musical Guest on “Letterman”

Jeffrey R. Staab/CBSTurns out maybe Bob Dylan wasn't David Letterman's final musical guest after all.  Foo Fighters will be the musical guest on tonight's final episode of the Late Show with David Letterman, Rolling Stone reports.  However, a rep for CBS tells ABC Radio they "cannot confirm" that the Foos will appear on tonight's show.

Letterman has had a close relationship with Dave Grohl and company over the years. The Foos were the musical guest on Letterman's first show back after undergoing heart surgery in 2000. Before they launched into their 1997 single "Everlong," Letterman introduced the Foos as "my favorite band playing my favorite song."

Last year, Foo Fighters staged a week-long residency at Late Show in support of their eight-part documentary series Sonic Highways, which was co-produced by Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants.

The final episode of Late Show with David Letterman airs tonight at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
