Report: Fun. on “Shaky Terms” Due to “Clash of Egos”

Late Wednesday night, the band posted a note on their Facebook page, seemingly out of nowhere, saying that the band is "not breaking up." Then Thursday morning, Billboard posted an article reporting that the members of the Grammy-winning band have been on "shaky terms with weeks, even months, going by with little to no communication among bandmates."

Citing "multiple sources," Billboard reports that the lack of communication between members Nate Ruess, Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost has been the result of a "clash of egos" following the massive success of their second album, Some Nights. The album, which included the hit title track, plus "We Are Young" and "Carry On," earned multiple Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year.

Billboard also reports that lead singer Ruess is pursuing a solo a career, and has recruited Some Nights producer Jeff Bhasker to work on his first solo release.

Antonoff, meanwhile, has been enjoying success with his side project, Bleachers. He also helped produce and write one of 2014's biggest albums: pop star Taylor Swift's 1989.

Dost has also been keeping busy -- the multi-instrumentalist wrote the score for the Jack Black-starring film The D Train, which just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month.

Doesn't sound as if anyone's had time to be in a band, but fun.'s Facebook post is adamant that this isn't the end.

"Some Nights was a successful album and it would have been very easy for us to jump back in the studio and capitalize on our momentum," the post reads. "But making records and touring when [sic] its "good for business" means nothing to us. We make records and tour when we are inspired to do so."

Billboard notes that last Tuesday, they asked fun. repeatedly for a comment on their story, which does make the February 4 Facebook post seem less out-of-the-blue.

The Facebook post ends with a promise to fun. fans to "keep you guys updated!"
