Ro-Mah-Master of Puppets: Metallica to Duet with Lady Gaga at Grammys

ABC/Randy HolmesWhen Metallica first announced that they'd be playing this year's Grammy Awards, they promised a "unique and special" performance.  Seems they're keeping their word: apparently, the metal legends will be collaborating with pop star and Super Bowl halftime performer Lady Gaga on Grammy night.

News of the joint performance first surfaced thanks to a Grammy promo clip captured by a Lady Gaga fan account announcing, "Lady Gaga duets with Metallica." Rolling Stone has confirmed that the collaboration is indeed happening.

There's no word on what exactly Metallica and Lady Gaga will performing -- perhaps they'll play the Mother Monster's song "Heavy Metal Lover."

Over the weekend, Metallica announced that frontman James Hetfield was "under strict doctor's orders to not sing one single note" due to a throat condition, which forced the band to postpone their show in Copenhagen. But it appears that Hetfield has now been cleared to sing, as Metallica is set to return to the stage tonight in the Danish capital.

The Grammys, hosted by James Corden, air Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
