Legacy RecordingsThe details of the soundtrack for Jaco, a documentary produced by Metallica's Robert Trujillo about legendary jazz bass player Jaco Pastorius, have been revealed. In addition to recordings by the late Pastorius, Jaco: Original Soundtrack will feature a song called "Come On Come Over" performed by Mass Mental, which features Trujillo and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.
The soundtrack, which Trujillo produced with Pastorius' eldest son, John Pastorius IV, also features contributions from Joni Mitchell, Mott the Hoople singer Ian Hunter and rapper/Corey Taylor-collaborator Tech N9ne.
Jaco: Original Soundtrack, and the film's DVD/Blu-ray, will be released on November 27. In celebration, Trujillo will hold a signing at the Sound Garden record store in Syracuse, New York.
Directed by Paul Marchand and Stephen Kijak, Jaco tells the story of Pastorius, a "self-taught, larger-than-life musician who single-handedly changed the course of modern music by redefining the sound and the role of the electric bass guitar." The film includes appearances by Flea and Rush's Geddy Lee.
