The lineup of performers has been announced for the 10th annual Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards, which will be held this Tuesday at The Avalon in Hollywood, California. Among the artists scheduled to rock out during the ceremony is former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, who will be accompanied by his new backing band, The Wildabouts. Supergroup King of Chaos and California Breed -- the latest project from ex-Deep Purple singer/bassist Glenn Hughes -- will also perform.
Kings of Chaos boasts a core lineup that includes three ex-Guns N' Roses members -- bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Gilby Clarke -- and also features a rotating cast of well-known singers and musicians. At the awards show, the band will be joined by the evening's host, Sammy Hagar, as well as Hughes, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and Def Leppard's Joe Elliott and Phil Collen.
As previously reported, surviving Doors members Robby Krieger and John Densmore will be at this year's Classic Rock Roll of Honour event to accept the Inspiration Award on behalf of their old band. In addition, Greg Allman will presented with the Living Legend Award during the ceremony. Other honors that will be handed out include Album of the Year, Band of the Year, Reissue of the Year, Film of the Year, Best New Band, Outstanding Contribution, Metal Guru, Spirit of Prog, Classic Album, Classic Songwriter, Breakthrough and VIP.
The annual awards event is sponsored by the U.K.-based Classic Rock magazine. This year marks the first time that the ceremony will be held in the U.S. The show will air on AXS TV in December on a soon-to-be-announced date.
