Sleater-Kinney to Release “No Cities to Love,” First Album in Ten Years

Image Courtesy of Sub Pop RecordsThe riot grrrls are back.  Sleater-Kinney will release No Cities to Love, the band's first album since 2005's The Woods, on January 20, 2015. For Sleater-Kinney fans who have waited long enough for new material, you can download the album's title track now.

The announcement of the new album comes on the heels of the band including a new song, "Bury Our Friends," as a one-sided 7" with Start Together, a limited-edition vinyl boxed set consisting of remastered versions of their seven previous albums. Start Together will be released October 21.

"We sound possessed on these songs," says Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein of No Cities to Love in a press statement. "Willing it all -- the entire weight of the band and what it means to us -- back into existence."

In addition to the new album, the band will be hitting the road in support of their new release. The North American tour will begin on February 8 in the band's home state with a show in Spokane, WA and conclude in Pittsburgh, PA on March 1.

Sleater-Kinney went on an indefinite hiatus in 2006, but Brownstein, Corin Tucker and Janet Weis have been keeping busy. Browstein formed Wild Flag with Weis, and she's also been staring in the IFC series Portlandia, which she co-created with Fred Armisen. Tucker, meanwhile, released two albums with the Corin Tucker Band.

You can pre-order No Cities to Love on the band's website. The deluxe vinyl LP version includes two bonus tracks on a single-sided 12" with an etching on the b-side.
