Slipknot's show in Hartford, Connecticut Sunday night was interrupted when bassist Alessandro Venturella was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for unknown reasons. In a fan-shot video, frontman Corey Taylor can be heard telling the crowd that, "something happened, I'm not sure what happened." Now, in a statement on their Facebook page, the band reveals that Venturella was suffering from "severe dehydration" and has since been discharged from the hospital.
"After a medical emergency during last night's show, we are relieved to let everyone know that our bass player, Alex 'V-Man' Venturella, is well on the road to recovery," the post reads. "Alex collapsed mid-set after feeling unwell and as a precautionary measure was taken to hospital where he was found to be suffering from severe dehydration."
The post also says that Venturella will rejoin Slipknot for the next stop on their Summer's Last Stand tour in Mansfield, Massachussetts on Tuesday, August 4. During last night's show, the band finished their set without Venturella after he was taken to the hospital.
"After recuperating overnight, [Venturella] has now been discharged from hospital and is on his way back to his Slipknot family," the statement reads.
Venturella, a former guitar tech for Mastodon, joined Slipknot in 2014 following the death of the band's founding bassist, Paul Gray.
