Songs by Hole, Nirvana & more earn sales boost thanks to “Captain Marvel”

Marvel StudiosA host of '90s rock classics have seen boosts in sales thanks to Captain Marvel.

The new Marvel film, which is set in 1995, features songs including Hole's "Celebrity Skin," Nirvana's "Come As You Are," No Doubt's "Just a Girl" and Garbage's "Only Happy When It Rains."

In the days following the movie's release last week, "Celebrity Skin," which plays during the end credits, received an increase of 2,222 percent in sales, Billboard reports.

Meanwhile, "Only Happy When It Rains" downloads jumped 1,351 percent, while sales of "Just a Girl" and "Come As You Are" went up 720 and 371 percent, respectively.

In addition to the '90s-centric soundtrack, star Brie Larson, who plays the titular hero, wears a Nine Inch Nails shirt throughout Captain Marvel. While the film doesn't feature any NIN music, Trent Reznor's band did team up with Marvel to create a new, collaborative t-shirt.
