Soundgarden Details “Ultramega OK” Reissue

Sub PopSoundgarden has announced the reissue of their 1988 debut album Ultramega OK.

The 19-track collection, which features a remixed version of the original album, plus "early versions" of six songs, will be released on March 10. You can listen to the early version of "Beyond the Wheel" now on YouTube.

For Soundgarden, remixing Ultramega OK has been a goal decades in the making. When the album was originally released, the band wasn't happy with the final mix, and planned to remix it for subsequent pressings. However, their career took off shortly after, and the remix project fell through the cracks.

Finally, Soundgarden acquired the original Ultramega OK multi-track tapes in 2016, which they gave to engineer Jack Endino, who's worked with Nirvana and Screaming Trees, to create a new mix for the album. Thus, the Ultramega OK reissue was born.

Soundgarden is currently working on their seventh studio album, the follow-up to their 2012 comeback effort King Animal.
