Image Courtesy of Mike LavineThe mystery of "Storm" has been solved. It turns out that the new Soundgarden track, which was released Monday, will be part of a rarities compilation entitled Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across the Path. The three-disc collection will be released November 24.
Each disc has its own theme -- "Originals," "Covers," and "Oddities." "Originals" includes B-sides, soundtrack and compilation selections, "Covers" contains Soundgarden's versions of songs by the artists like The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Black Sabbath, and "Oddities" is comprised of instrumentals, remixes and demos.
"Essentially this is a gathering together of "loose ends" from throughout our recording career," says guitarist Kim Thayil, who curated the collection. "I believe Scattered Tracks Across the Path describes this album best. As album sets go, this one has been fun to collect and compile over the decades. I personally may have referenced this project a number of times over the years, going back almost twenty of them to the mid-nineties!"
