As a member of a band that is now fronted by Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo has had experience with high-profile collaborations. Now, he's lending his talents to Delta Deep, a new blues-inspired project from Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen.
"We really wanted Robert in this band," Collen says. "He had the added firepower of being the premiere pioneer and most 'badass bass player' to come out of the alternative rock explosion."
Delta Deep's self-titled debut, which will be released in June, also features vocalist Debbi Blackwell-Cook and drummer Forrest Robinson. Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliot will also guest on the record.
Meanwhile, DeLeo is currently on tour with STP. The headlining trek will conclude April 30 in Philadelphia.
