ABC/Ida Mae AstuteTed Cruz has denied that he asked Trent Reznor for tickets to a recent Nine Inch Nails show.
During a concert in Irving, Texas earlier this week, Reznor told the crowd that the state's newly reelected senator had requested to be included on the guest list for the show, but the musician told him to "f*** off."
Reznor added that he had allowed Cruz onto the guest list for a NIN show "a few years ago" and claimed that the politician "drank all the beer and was just a pain in the a** to be around."
"To all the gullible reporters who are 'reporting' that I asked to be on the guest list at a Nine Inch Nails concert: uh, no, NIN is not my music taste," Cruz tweeted Thursday. "[Reznor] was clearly joking."
"And for the record, I also didn't 'drink all his beer' the last time...but I would have!" the senator continued. He also added the hashtag #FakeNews.
You can watch footage of Reznor's speech on Reddit.
Reznor and company are currently on their Cold and Black and Infinite tour behind their new album Bad Witch. The run concludes December 15 in Los Angeles.
