The 1975 frontman Matty Healy kissed a male fan during the band's show in Dubai Wednesday -- in defiance of the United Arab Emirates' strict anti-LGBTQ laws.
According to Billboard and The FADER, fan-shot video of the kiss, which happened during a performance of the song "Loving Someone," was posted to social media. Videos have since been deleted in an effort to protect the fan's identity.
Homosexuality is illegal in the UAE, and is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years.
"Thank you Dubai you were so amazing," Healy tweeted Wednesday. "I don't think we'll be allowed back due to my 'behavior' but know that I love you and I wouldn't have done anything differently given the chance again."
"But who knows maybe they will let me back in let's just wait and see," he added, along with a smiley face emoticon.
Following growing concern for the fan's safety, Healy tweeted Thursday, "Sorry I shouldn't have tweeted that, it's just been a very intense couple of days I love you all so so much."
Last month, members of Rammstein kissed onstage during the metal band's show in Moscow to protest Russia's anti-LGBTQ "gay propaganda" law.
