The Arcs Launch “Inventors” Album Series

Nonesuch RecordsThe Arcs are launching a new project called "Inventors," a series of recordings that'll include new songs written by Dan Auerbach's new band in collaboration with older artists.

The first installment of the series, called The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. 1, will feature contributions from blues, jazz and rock artist Dr. John and Los Lobos singer David Hidalgo. The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. 1 will be released as a 10-inch vinyl record on November 27 -- Record Store Day Black Friday -- and digitally on December 11.

"Sometimes the best way to see into the future is to study the past," says Auerbach in a statement. "In this series we do both, collaborating with folks who have been in the game a long time but instead of rehashing old material, we collaborate on new works, explore new ideas and introduce each other to a different generational perspective."

"We'll continue in this series to track down our heroes and bug them until they agree to make some noise with us," he continues. "Hopefully we learn a thing or two."

The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. 1 is The Arcs' first batch of new material since they released their debut album, Yours, Dreamily, earlier this month. The band will launch their first full-scale North American tour in support of Yours, Dreamily in December.
