Credit: Danny ClinchThe Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach will appear on the season premiere of History Channel's hit antique-hunting show, American Pickers. In a clip from the episode, streaming now on RollingStone.com, show stars Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz bring Auerbach a rare vintage Chet Atkins Gretsch guitar.
"The Chet Atkins model is probably the most desirable Gretsch," he says in the clip. "I've never even played one."
"There's a difference between guitars that collectors collect and ones that players use," Auerbach adds. "This one is a player's guitar."
The season premiere of American Pickers airs May 6. A few days before that, Auerbach will release his first songs with his new solo project, called The Arcs. A seven-inch single featuring the boxing-themed songs "Stay in My Corner" and "Tomato Can" will be released in independent record stores May 2, the same day the much-anticipated Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight takes place.
