The Cure planning to play “Disintegration” shows in US

Fiction Earlier this year, The Cure announced a batch of special shows in Australia to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their beloved 1989 album Disintegration. Speaking to Rolling Stone, frontman Robert Smith says the British goth icons will be bringing those shows to the U.S., as well.

"It's inevitable, I think," Smith says.

Smith's main focus now is figuring out the right venue for Disintegration.

"I think Disintegration is just big," he explains. "So we need to do somewhere that’s just big. But probably about Christmas time we'll come back."

Smith also spoke more about the next Cure album, the follow-up to 2008's 4:13 Dream.

"It's so dark. It's incredibly intense," he says of the new material. "And I've waited 10 years to do something that means something. It's going to work really well."

Smith and the Cure were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Friday during a ceremony in Brooklyn, New York. Highlights from the show will air in an HBO special on April 27.
