The Dead Weather's new album Dodge and Burn is out now, but they aren't touring in support of the record. As for why, the band -- which includes Jack White on drums, The Kills' Alison Mosshart on vocals, Queens of the Stone Age's Dean Fertita on guitar and The Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence on bass -- offers a simple reason: logistics.
"The Kills are working on a record, Queens of the Stone Age are starting up again," Fertita tells Billboard. "[Lawrence's band] City and Colour is starting up soon. Jack's just been going forever so he just needs a minute." Earlier this year, White announced that he was taking a break from the road after his worldwide tour in support of his second solo album, Lazaretto.
While they may not be touring behind Dodge and Burn, The Dead Weather don't rule out touring in support of future releases.
"We all would love to play," Fertita says. "Obviously, it's our favorite thing in the world to play together. Maybe some day, but immediate future, it's not happening."
"Do you know how many records we could write in a couple years?" adds Mosshart. "I'm glad this music's out there; it's very hard to plan far ahead. There's much going on and we're all so busy."
