The band has unveiled the first single from the upcoming album, "Make You Better." "Make You Better" is now available in all digital outlets and is streaming on Vevo.

"Typically we book four or five weeks in the studio and bang out the whole record," says frontman Colin Meloy in a statement. "This time, we started by just booking three days, and didn't know what we would record. There was no direction or focus; we wanted to just see what would come out."

What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World is the band's first new full-length album since 2011's The King is Dead, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. That album's single, "Down by the Water," received a Grammy nomination in the Best Rock Song category.

The album is now available for pre-order on The Decemberists' website. Fans who pre-order What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World via the band's website will receive a code for an exclusive ticket pre-sale for the band's upcoming U.S. tour. U.S. tour dates have yet to be announced, but The Decemberists will be touring Europe starting February 11 in Dublin, Ireland, through March 1 in Milan, Italy.
