The Flaming Lips, Primus and Phish and More Playing New Year’s Eve Shows

Image Courtesy of George SalisburyTonight, the world will ring in 2015, and plenty of alternative rock bands will celebrate New Year's Eve with their fans by playing special shows.

California will get a bevy of big New Year's Eve shows in the form of The Flaming Lips in San Francisco, Fitz and the Tantrums in Los Angeles, Primus in Oakland and Cake in San Jose.

Jam bands seem to be quite popular on the last day of the year, as Phish, Gov't Mule, Umphrey's McGee, The String Cheese Incident and moe. all have New Year's Eve shows scheduled across the country. Gov't Mule will be joined by Slash's band leader and Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy.

Other alternative bands playing New Year's Eve include Spoon, The Hold Steady and Gogol Bordello.
