In an interview with Spin, Flowers lists his 10 favorite songs that he wrote, starting with The Killers' breakthrough hit, "Mr. Brightside."
"We've never not played that song live, because it's stood the test of time and I'm proud of it," Flowers says of the Hot Fuss single. "I never get bored of singing it."
Also on his list is "When You Were Young," the first single off The Killers' sophomore album, Sam's Town.
"There's a tremendous amount of pressure that’s on a band after you have that hit first record," says Flowers. "So that was weighing pretty heavily on us and I just remember when [guitarist] Dave [Keuning] played that riff...that song was born. We knew it had a real weight to it. It just felt really powerful and I felt confident."
Even though he might think that Battle Born isn't the best effort from The Killers, Flowers does name the album's "From Here on Out" as one of his 10 favorites. The list also contains two tracks from his forthcoming solo album, The Desired Effect, which will be released on May 19.
"This is probably the funkiest song that I will ever write," Flowers says of The Desired Effect track "Lonely Town." "It doesn't seem like a white 33-year-old wrote it."
