The Lumineers playing benefit concert for Standing Rock Water Protectors

ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaThe Lumineers will headline a show in Sioux City, Iowa later this month in support of the Standing Rock Water Protectors, who are protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The concert will take place March 26, and tickets will go on sale this Saturday, March 11.

"As the tides of movements surge and recede, activists on the front lines continue to face arrest and lengthy legal battles," The Lumineers say in a statement. "Movements evolve and mainstream press coverage wanes, but many of the scars and legal fees remain."

The band adds, "We see this at Standing Rock as many Water Protectors who put their bodies and freedom on the line to protect our water for future generations are put through the legal system."

Profits from the concert will be donated to the Water Protectors Legal Collective and Unicorn Riot, a group of independent journalists covering the protests.

The Lumineers are currently on tour in support of their sophomore album, Cleopatra.
