The Smashing Pumpkins have released the video for their Irish folk song-inspired track "Drum + Fife." Filmed by directing team Ahlander/Antiga, the clip shows a group of children playing with slingshots, but then the warfare becomes very real. You can watch the video for "Drum + Fife" now on Vevo.
"I asked, albeit in an allegorical way, for the video to represent what our returning soldiers are going through with PTSD, and I feel that the directors captured that with poignancy," says Billy Corgan in a statement. "I couldn't be more proud of the message we're sending that we care what happens to those that are out there hurting."
Corgan will perform "Drum + Fife" April 2 on The Tonight Show along with fellow Smashing Pumpkin Jeff Schroeder, The Killers bassist Mark Stoermer and Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk. On April 3, Corgan and Schroeder will perform an acoustic version of the track on Good Morning America.
"Drum + Fife" is the latest single from the Pumpkins' 2014 album, Monuments to an Elegy.
