Over the weekend, Jack White participated in a private online chat with members of his Third Man Records Vault subscription service. Several outlets reported that in the chat, Jack said his former White Stripes band mate Meg White "doesn't answer her phone," that he doesn't like playing festivals and plans to only play "seated theaters for acoustic shows," and that he doesn't "belong here."
Now, in a Facebook post titled "JACK WHITE CLICK BAIT BINGO EXHAUSTION," Third Man Records is attempting to clarify White's remarks.
In regard to Meg, TMR writes "She doesn't have to answer her phone. ...[Jack's] not even complaining about that nor is it depressing."
"The White Stripes is over and it's been said a hundred times, and maybe that’s just the quickest way for him to answer that question he gets asked a dozen times a day," the post continues.
Addressing the festival remark, the post reads, "[Jack] said he'd like to do acoustic shows in sit down venues and electric shows in standing venues. He said he doesn’t like festivals but hey, he does them anyway and he makes them work."
As for whether he feels he doesn't "belong," the post assures that Jack was just joking with the Vault members and that he was referring to the chat room, not the world. "It was not an existential cry to the abyss for attention," the post declares.
The post also reveals that Jack will be working with The Dead Weather this week, and that he's "involved in several projects we're not even gonna tell you about right now cause we don't want to ruin the surprise."
After a long tour in support of his latest solo album, Lazaretto, Jack is currently taking a break from the road.
