Tim Commerford Says Rage Against the Machine “Are Still a Band”; Doesn’t Believe ISIS Is Real

Credit: Dana KleinWhile Rage Against the Machine hasn't performed live together since 2011, bassist Tim Commerford says the band may return to the stage some day.

"We are still a band, and we still might play again," Commerford tells Rolling Stone. "We don't have anything scheduled right now, but you never know what the future will bring."

One thing Commerford is sure of, however, is that the terrorist organization ISIS is not "real."

"I don't believe ISIS is real. ISIS has been an inspiration for a lot of the songs that I wrote with Wakrat," he says, referring to his new band.

Commerford adds that the he thinks the videos of ISIS beheading people are fake.

"They're high-def. They have a soundtrack," he says. "The parts of those videos that you couldn't fake are edited out."

Commerford is a self-professed "conspiracy theorist," which he says makes its way into his lyrics for Wakrat.

"I say, 'Question everything.' It feels good to find information that doesn't mesh out. I'm into it," he says. "I'm proud of who I am. When you hear the [Wakrat] record, it's there for sure."
